Former top international event rider and chairman of British Eventing senior selection committee Mandy Stibbe has been awarded with the Torch Trophy Trust Award by His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent at this week’s 2012 Torch Trophy Trust Awards at The Army and Navy Club in London.

The Torch Trophy Trust was founded in 1962 by the late Commander Bill Collins RN and aims to reward volunteers in sport and recreation and to recognise and support their endeavours.

Mandy’s award recognises her voluntary commitment to equestrian sport and coincides with the Trust’s 50th Anniversary.

"It is an honour to have been awarded this trophy, my work with British Eventing has been so rewarding and enjoyable and has allowed me to put something back into a sport that I love" said Mandy.

British Eventing chief executive Mike Etherington-Smith said: "Mandy's contribution to the sport of British Eventing has been invaluable. Her competitive career was very illustrious and subsequently her work with the teams and across the sport has been exceptional. This award demonstrates the value of her contribution to the sport and is much deserved".

Andrew Finding, chief executive British Equestrian Federation, also praised Mandy for her role in the outstanding successes of the British Eventing teams at European, World and Olympic level.

"We are all indebted to Mandy and this award is truly deserved. Her support to our team’s successes has been enormous and we hope that her involvement will continue for many years to come".
