BEF announces new board members

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF), the national governing body for horse sport in the UK, has appointed two new members to its board

Jane Hastie, née Nixon, has been elected director of Equine Development and is joined by Spencer Moore as director for Sports Development.

Chairman of the BEF board, Keith said; "I am thrilled to have Jane and Spencer join the BEF Board and we are very fortunate to have two such talented individuals join our team. Together they bring a wealth of relevant knowledge and experience which equips them well for the roles they will perform on the board."

Cambridge graduate Jane brings more than 30 years’ veterinary experience to the board. She is closely involved in the performance horse industry in the UK and abroad and oversees mare and stallion gradings.

Jane is a consultant at Buckingham Equine Veterinary Practice Ltd and founder of Nixon Equine Veterinary Consultancy.

Spencer Moore brings team management expertise from outside of equestrianism.

A former junior international swimmer, Spencer was head of sport and recreation at West Nottingham College before moving to British Swimming and ASA, where he is head of workforce development.

Spencer also has a keen interest in human performance science; he also attended the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney where he was the exercise physiologist for the British swimming team.

Keith Taylor, businessman and long-time equestrian enthusiast, was re-elected for a second term as BEF Board chairman.

Chair of the Council, Jane Holderness-Roddam CBE, said: "I am delighted that Keith has been re-elected as Chair. He has made very positive steps towards unifying and growing the federation over the past four years. I am sure he and the board will continue to build on the agreed strategic plan and help all member bodies meet the challenges of the future.

"After a great year, equestrianism is well placed to benefit from its outstanding successes and the BEF can lead the way in building on that as it heads towards the next Olympiad."
