Search begins for new sponsor for Hickstead Derby

The All England Jumping Course at Hickstead, West Sussex, is seeking a new title sponsor of its most famous showjumping class, the Hickstead Derby.

Following the end of Carpetright Plc’s sponsorship,  the search is on for a new sponsor to ensure the continuation of this historic competition.

The British Jumping Derby, which was first run in 1961, has been sponsored by some major brands over the past 52 years, and for the past two years has been run under the banner of the Carpetright Derby.

The chairman of Carpetright Plc is Lord Harris, who is a major supporter of showjumping and owner of Scott Brash’s Olympic horse, Hello Sanctos.

"We would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank Carpetright Plc for their invaluable support over the last two years, which has enabled us to ensure that the British Jumping Derby has remained one of the highlights of the international equestrian calendar," says Hickstead director Daisy Bunn.

"Looking to the future, it’s a very exciting time for showjumping in this country, particularly after the success of Team GB at London 2012, and we look forward to welcoming a new sponsor to Hickstead. The Derby itself is famous across the globe, and the title sponsorship offers a unique opportunity for a business to associate themselves with an incredibly well supported, quintessentially British event."
