Seventeen-year-old Sophie Holliday and her eight-year old gelding Westerhofs Limit showed exceptional talent when they jumped to glory in the Equissage National Discovery Championship.

Sophie (17) is based in Cambridgeshire and attends Moulton College, Northampton where she is an equine studies student. She has owned Westerhofs Limit for two years, he was purchased as an eventer but is now also showing a flare for pure show jumping.

Said Sophie: "It is really exciting to win the Equissage Discovery Championship. The course was technical with lots of turns but a good height, which suited ‘Limo’.

"We started off fast, and finished faster," said Sophie who inched ahead of Beth Austin and Zeester to win the championship.

From 18 starters, ten combinations jumped off for the championship with Sophie taking the lead at the midway point in an unbeatable time of 36.55 seconds.

Second place went to Bethany Austin riding Zeester, followed by Matthew Boddy and Zaronda II.
