The EquestrianCleance.com Newcomers Masters at the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival was the last chance to qualify for the 2011 Championship to be held at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS).

It proved a winning day for Manchester-based Danielle Jolliffe, riding her own seven-year-old stallion Explosief Van De Heffinck who wowed the crowds.

Completing the jump off clear in a time of 33.79 seconds this put the 24-year-old into the lead by almost three seconds.

The combination had already qualified for HOYS with an earlier win at the Keysoe qualifier, so the first qualifying ticket went to second placed Nigel Coupe riding Susan Simmons’ eight-year-old bay gelding Golvers Hill.

Third place and the second HOYS ticket was taken by Somerset-based Harriet Nuttall riding her father’s seven-year-old chestnut gelding A Touch Imperious. This combination jumped clear in a time of 37.17 seconds.
