All England Jumping Championships

Action from the first ever All England Jumping Championships got started at Hickstead today, with four days of thrilling showjumping to look forward to (8-11 September).

Hickstead is as famous for its party atmosphere as it is for hosting world class equestrian sport, and a full schedule of evening entertainment is planned to celebrate the inaugural AEJCs, and to mark the end of another excellent season. Entertainment throughout the show includes a range of bars and restaurants, a barbecue, live DJs and Hickstead’s house band ‘Bowman’.

The parties will provide riders and spectators the chance to wind down after a busy day of competition. A total of 828 horses are entered into the AEJCs, with top riders Louise and Nicole Pavitt, Clark Glasgow (USA), Trevor Breen (IRE), plus Bruce Menzies, James Fisher, Mark Armstrong and Dan Moseley among the entries. Classes range from 1m up to a 1.40m Grand Prix with a £6,000 prize fund.

With entry and parking free to spectators, it’s also the perfect opportunity to bring a picnic and enjoy a day out in the West Sussex countryside. A select number of tradestands will be exhibiting for those who wish to do a bit of horsey shopping during their visit.

The Hickstead App for iPhone and iPad will once again be providing comprehensive news and results from the All England Jumping Championships. The updated version can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple iTunes website.
