Three out of the team of horses selected for the 2011 European Championships Eventing team are British Bred.  The strength and depth of the efforts made by British breeders are beginning to consistently reap rewards for the profile of British breeding.  Nor is this a one off.  Three of the four horses in last year’s gold medal winning team at WEG were British Bred.  Two of these horses remain in the team this year, Cool Mountain and Opposition Buzz.  The British bred Jakata, an individual at WEG is also making the journey to the Europeans, as are newcomer Laura Collett with Rayef and Polly Stockton with Westwood Poser.

Head of Equine Development at the BEF, Jan Rogers said "Its so good to see a consistent rise in the number of British Bred horses competing at this elite level, and there are many more waiting in the wings, including a few really promising horses in the other disciplines as well. It shows that British bred horses are here to stay, and linking the Futurity with the World Class Equine Pathway means that we have a long term plan in place."
