Horses Inside Out Conference 5-6 March
Horses Inside Out Conference 5-6 March

The annual Horses Inside Out Conference will be taking place on the 5th and 6th of March at the Unicorn Trust in Stow on the Wold.

This year the conference will focus on posture, performance and injury prevention. The conference will look at practical aspects, the science behind training and the support of the horse as he progresses. It will look at correct muscular development and the implications for training for competition, leisure and horses involved in different disciplines along with ways the therapist can support and contribute to the well being of the horse.

On the first day Dr Rachel Murray will look at the principles of warm up and its effects on performance as well as injuries and their prevention. She will also examine injuries incurred by horses participating in different equestrian disciplines. Dr Andrew Hemmings, a leader in his field, will look at the influence of the brain in training.

On the second day, Eric Smiley, who has just been appointed coach to the Belgian Eventing Team, will go through practical training from in hand and lunge work through to pole work for posture and performance, correct dressage training and athletic jumping for suppleness and strength.
