Wild cards to star at next week's Horse of The Year Show

The full line-up of British riders competing in the International show jumping classes at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) is now complete following the final wild card qualifiers.

Lucy Guild and Sam Hutton, who has already tasted success at HOYS when winning the Dick Turpin Stakes last year, both qualified at the Rowallen Equestrian Centre in Ayrshire and will go through to the show along with Timothy Davies. Davies secured his ticket by finishing with the highest total in the British Showjumping International Stairway competition which takes into account points accrued at a number of county shows across the summer.

The final two wild cards to qualify for HOYS are Louise and George Whitaker who obtained their places at last week’s Arena UK competition near Grantham. Hailing from the famous show jumping dynasty, the British Number 34 and 36 respectively will be joining fellow family members Michael, John, Robert and Ellen in the International classes throughout the week.

The 2011 Horse of the Year Show promises to be another exceptional event not to be missed! Alongside the finals of the most highly regarded national Showing and Show Jumping championships, the show will host a jam-packed line-up of equestrian entertainment. Highlights this year will include the magnificent Musical Ride of the Household Cavalry, appearing by permission of the CO HMR, the spellbinding Magali Delgado performing her skilled blend of dressage and artistry with her husband, Frédéric Pignon, and her Lusitano, Mandarin, a Showing tutorial master class with Matthew Lawrence, Osborne Refrigerators Double Harness Scurry Racing, the thrilling Equimax Pony Club Mounted Games for the Prince Philip Cup, and a Dressage Demo on Friday with Richard Davison.

Also don’t forget that new for 2011 is the Express Eventing Series Final, a compact thrill-a-minute version of eventing taking place throughout the opening day, whilst the Think Like a Pony Interactive Feature Area will be present every day in the famous HOYS Retail Village featuring hundreds of trade stands!
