Olympic show jumper dies
Former British Olympic team show jumper Tim Grubb has died at the age of 55.
Tim, who had lived in California for many years, is believed to have suffered heart failure.
Tim swapped to show jumping after being a national hunt jockey. He went on to win team silver at the Los Angeles Olympics and was also on Britain’s silver medal-winning team for the alternative Olympics in 1980.
He moved to America after his marriage to Michele McEvoy, but returned to Britain for a season in 1992 and took part in his third Olympics in Barcelona.
He then took US nationality and rode on the American team at the 1994 World Games.
Tim had retired from competition, but was still involved in the sport through his dealing business. His children, Christopher and Dottie, followed in his show jumping footsteps.
