This year’s Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials will be available to global broadcast for the first time thanks to Horse & Country TV.
Organisers are hoping that this will help to encourage further sponsorship opportunities.
Badminton is one of the UK’s largest paid-entry sports events and regularly attracts more than 150,000 spectators.
Broadcast distribution has been confirmed in 71 countries and exposure is predicted to reach in excess of 28 million TV viewers and one million online video views worldwide.
Distribution deals have been secured with Sky Sports in the UK and Eurosport across Europe, as well as on multiple international channels, as well as HRTV in the US, Network Ten in Australia, TVNZ in New Zealand, Nelonen in Finland, Nova TV in the Czech Republic, and Orbit Showtime in the Middle East.
"This is the first time horse sport programming has been packaged to maximise distribution and establish a platform for high value sports media sponsorship," said H&C TV chairman Heather Killen.
"At grass roots, horse sport delivers one of the most attractive audiences a global brand advertiser could imagine, but to date it has lacked the oxygen of broad media exposure.
"We believe that by taking premium tier events like Badminton to their global audience we can bring horse sport into the major leagues of sports sponsorship."
