Olympia Dressage: Wednesday
Adelinde Cornelissen celebrates her win
A vintage performance by Dutch star Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival to win Olympia’s Reem Acra Dressage World Cup qualifier may not have exactly been the result the home crowd was hoping for, but no one who watched her test could have begrudged her victory.
After her grand prix win the previous day, Britain’s golden girl Laura Bechtolsheimer was hoping for a repeat performance on Mistral Hojris, but the powerful chesnut looked slightly out of sorts and several mistakes left the door open.
Adelinde took her chance with both hands and Parzival never put a foot wrong on the way to their second World Cup victory of the current series and also got closer to booking their ticket to the final.
Last year’s record-breaking winner here, Dutchman Edward Gal, made the great job of his new mare Sisther de Jeu, who finished third, while America’s Catherine Haddad was fourth with an upbeat test on the flashy chesnut Wynyamaro.
A delighted Amy Stovold had a dream ride on Macbrian to score 74.05% for fifth place, relegating Richard Davison’s elegant test on Hiscox Artemis into sixth spot.
