British Showjumping has announced The Yorkshire International Showjumping Event (YISE), which will take place each Easter weekend from 2011 to 2013 at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield.

Welcome to Yorkshire, who are supporting the event is looking forward to showcasing this new date.
Gary Verity, Welcome to Yorkshires CEO, said: "We are really looking forward to hosting such a high profile event as it meets many of our objectives such as bringing sport to the community, attracting more visitors to Yorkshire and the subsequent benefits to the local economy that this brings with it.
"YISE will see almost £150,000 of prize money fought for during the three days of the show (22-24 April 2011) from an amateur championship on one of the days, through to the top International classes that run during each of the performances."
Maria Clayton, head of communications for British Showjumping said: "To say we are delighted that this new event has come to fruition would be an under-statement. One of our core aims has been to bring our sport back into the centre of thriving communities in addition to creating additional international shows to assist with our performance pathway programmes.

"With the foresight and vision of Welcome to Yorkshire, we are now able to meet these and we are extremely grateful for both this and the opportunity to have such a superb platform to showcase our existing and up and coming talented riders.
"Yorkshire has always been a county synonymous with showjumping and is most likely to be the county that has produced more international riders than any other."

John Whitaker summed up: "I’m really looking forward to being able to compete on my doorstep in front of a home crowd in this exciting new event. We desperately needed more international shows within our country and I couldn’t be happier that a new one has been introduced within Yorkshire, a county that I’m extremely passionate about. "
