Horse charity needs your help
Redwings Horse Sanctuary is appealing for help as the economic climate continues to bite.
Redwings Horse Sanctuary currently cares for more than 1100 rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules at its nine sites around the UK.
Following a drop in donations over the past couple of years, staff at Redwings have devised a number of ways for people to help the charity at minimal cost to themselves.

Gemma Carnell, fundraising manager for Redwings, says: "These are tough times for everyone, and we know that although people desperately want to help us, they just don’t have the spare cash to donate at the moment. We wanted to offer people some new ways to help us that either won’t cost them a penny or that involve things they might buy anyway, but that can all make a huge difference to our rescued horses and ponies!"

Here are just some of the suggestions:

• Just click - Click ‘Like’ on the TeamSPILLERS Facebook page before the end of October and the feed company will donate 1kg of feed to Redwings. The campaign has already generated more than 10ts of donated feed for the Sanctuary and it only takes a second!

• Join ipatter – A brand new social networking site that allows businesses and organisations to ‘broadcast’ to their followers, and for individuals to hear the latest news from the organisations that they are interested in. It’s free to sign up, and ipatter will kindly donate 50p for every individual and £5 for every business or organisation that joins through the Redwings website www.redwings.co.uk/fundraising-for-us

• Donate your old tack, or buy some! – Redwings is a registered charity on eBay – selling secondhand tack and horsewear plus other items all donated by supporters that they are unable to use, with the entire sale price going direct to the Sanctuary. Add redwingsfund118 to your favourite sellers, or send any unwanted tack or horsey items to Redwings, Hapton, Norwich, NR15 1SP

And some more traditional ways to help:

• Collect used stamps - Redwings now accepts used postage stamps. They can accept stamps of any shape and size; simply send them to Redwings, Hapton, Norwich, NR15 1SP. The stamps generate funds for Redwings according to weight so the more the merrier!

• Insure your house! - Redwings has teamed up with South Essex Insurance Brokers Limited and Ansvar Insurance Company Limited to offer home insurance with an added benefit. For every policy sold, SEIB will very kindly donate 5% of the premium to the Sanctuary.

• Recycle your mobile – The charity receives an average of £2.50 for every mobile phone or 50p for every used printer cartridge they receive and the postage is FREE so it doesn't cost a penny! You can even order a Recycle Deposit Box for your school, workplace, shop or community centre, which will be collected for free too. Order your box from the Redwings Fundraising team or send your used phones or cartridges to: Redwings Recycling Appeal, Freepost RRXH-HUCY-BCZS, FALKIRK FK2 9BR6

• Do your shopping – Buy your Christmas gifts from Redwings and 100% of the profits will go towards caring for the Sanctuary’s rescued residents. Choose from a fantastic range of clothing, homewares, books, toys and delicious treats at www.redwings.co.uk or telephone 01508 481010 to order your copy of the charity’s brand new gift catalogue!
