Blue Cross Shetlands: Jenny and Percy
Two Shetland ponies who had never been turned out at grass are making good progress under the care of the Blue Cross.

The mother and son, known as Jenny and Percy, were recently admitted to the Blue Cross equine centre in Rolleston, Staffs, when their elderly owner could no longer care for them.

The ponies, which were relatively unhandled and had lived in a shed all their lives only occasionally being turned out into a tiny yard to stretch their legs, had never seen or tasted grass.

Percy also underwent an operation to help overcome a locking stifle, which made it difficult for him to walk.
Having spent a lifetime without grass Jenny and Percy have been introduced to grazing slowly to avoid digestive problems.
