Bloodlines and competition record

Manitu was bred in Germany, but his international career began in Denmark, where he was the four-year-old Danish Riding Pony Champion.

Manitu  proved unique winning European medals with four different riders: first a team silver medal for Denmark in the 1998 European Pony Championships, followed by partnering UK pony riders Maria Eilberg, Lorna Edmonds and Samantha Harrison to successive European Pony Championships, resulting in the record of team silver medals in 1999 and 2000, followed by six successive team bronze medals (2001 to 2006).

He was 2002 National Dressage Pony Champion, winner of the prelim test at Le Touquet 2001 and Champion Pony at "Going for Gold" in 2000 and 2001.  Manitu achieved fifth place in the individual finals at the 2002 European Championships in Hagen, Germany, ahead of all members of the Dutch silver medal-winning team.

Manitu’s pedigree is interesting as it contains show jumping bloodlines, so he is also proving attractive to mare owners wanting to breed jumpers and eventers.

Some of his best-known offspring so far include Rosewater Manakin, out of the SPSS Main Studbook mare Barkway Riverdance, a filly who was born in 2003 , awarded a BEF Futurity 1st Premium as a three-year-old and subsequently Graded SPSS Main Studbook 2007.

Manitu N stands at Hobgoblins Stud in East Sussex.
