Early days and career highlights

Cevin Z was bred in Belgium at Zangersheide and bought by Heather MacPherson as a top-price foal.  As one of the most consistent six-year-olds in the country in 2003, he achieved fourth place in the Foxhunter Championship at the Horse of the Year Show.

Competing with William Funnell in 2007, his international winnings totalled £8,000, at Lisbon, Chantilly and Vimeiro, with home wins at Surrey County and New Forest shows.

His appreciative rider summed up Cevin Z, saying: "With his impeccable technique and scope will go on to make a top grand prix horse"; and, in 2007, William paid tribute to this talented stallion’s offspring: "His first progeny in the ring are showing great jumping potential and have an excellent temperament."

Following a fetlock injury in 2008, Cevin Z has been successfully competed at a lower level, ridden by junior Jake Saywell, who continues to gain experience in the Children on Horses classes.

Cevin Z’s original owner Heather MacPherson died two years ago and left "Kevin" to William, who had also used him on Billy Stud mares.

Breeding and progeny

Cevin Z’s pedigree features the outstanding bloodlines for which the Zangersheide Studbook is famous and carries the double crosses of both Cor de le Bryere and Capitol I in his pedigree.

Cevin Z’s sire, Coriall Z, is one of the top stallions of the Zangersheide Stud, with a BLUP of 127 for show jumping, as well as two graded sons.

His dam Larthago was an international show jumper whose progeny have fetched high prices in Europe.

His dam sire, Carthago Z, is one of the most successful sons of Capitol I and competed in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics, while also siring nine graded sons.
