Gales Brio (or Beebs, as he is known on the yard) was bred in the UK at the Yeguada el Gales stud in Wales and his name means 'Welsh Spirit'. Black PREs of Brio's quality are rare and we had had our eye on Brio for a couple of years before we got the chance to have him in 2011. We bought him with the intention of breeding black PRE foals and to be a ridden replacement for Romero, who is steadily advancing in years With the introduction of our Cremello colt, Mas Yaco, to the stud we have made a positive decision to breed Palomino and Buckskin PREs in the future and not pursue our interest in black PREs, so he now for sale. He was backed very late and had only been ridden for a short time before coming to us in 2011. He has mastered all the basic paces, is proficient in his lateral work and is becoming more secure with his flying changes. He is used frequently as a school horse, teaching riders the finer points of riding a well-schooled PRE as he is extremely light in the hand. In order to promotehim we have shown him at several prestigious shows with notable results. 2012 was a bit of a washout, with the poor weather resulting in most of our Iberian shows being cancelled. However, Brio managed one show, Chertsey, and was the In-hand Iberian Champion and Supreme Iberian Champion. In 2013, he was highly placed in every show he entered: Springwell:1st Foreign Breeds & Reserve Show Champion Bexhill: 1st Foreign Breeds In-hand APH Pachesham: 3rd Foreign Breed In-hand & 5th Foreign Breeds ridden class Dorset: 2nd PRE In-hand class BAPSH National Show: 5th Ridden Equitation class Chertsey: Ist Iberian male In-hand, Ch Iberian In-hand, Reserve Iberian Champion. Highest placed PRE He was gelded in February 2014 so that he would be acceptable to a wider spectrum of riders who may not have the facilities to manage a stallion. Well mannered with the farrier, easy to box and turnout/catch. He is totally sound, has never been lame and is open to any vetting.
