Winter JC winner: Millie Allen and Herbies Double TroublePony show jumpers took centre stage in the opening International Arena classes at this year’s Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead.
Three national titles were at stake, starting with the Oakley Coachbuilders Winter JC. This went to recent Children on Horses European team gold and individual silver medallist Millie Allen on a catch ride, Herbies Double Trouble. This scopey gelding is usually the ride of Millie’s best friend Amy Inglis, who is on pony European Championship duty at Bishop Burton, and Millie gave the grey a superb ride.
Emily Ward and Rockingham ShadowThe Claydon Horsewalkers 128cm and winter 138cm championships both produced exciting jump-offs.
Darby Ward and More Than MiltonEmily Ward, who combines showing and show jumping, took the former from final draw on the lovely dun Rockingham Shadow, while Darby Ward also made the most of her last-to-go spot to take the 138cm honours with the fabulous grey, More Than Milton
