Pony of the week: Rhubarb Crumble

All-rounder 14.2hh palomino gelding Rhubarb Crumble (Rhu) is currently up for sale on Horse Deals, owner Juli Carter tells us more about him…

Q: How long have you owned Rhu for?

A: We’ve owned Rhu for the past nine years. I bought him for my daughter.

Q: What kind of owner would suit him?

A: Rhu would suit someone who wants to compete at local level so is an ideal second pony. He is an all-rounder/ Pony Club pony and would suit a confident rider. He has a big jump so would need a capable rider. He is jumped by teenagers and is forward going, he will never stop at a jump and would rather knock a pole than stop. He is a safe jumper and would also suit a small adult for riding club activities. He would be ideal for someone with a bit of ambition to take him out to local shows.

Q: What competition experience does Rhu have?

A: Rhu won the working hunter class and went on to stand champion at Brent Pelham show in June this year. We haven’t had the time to take him out recently, however he has taken part in a lot of Pony Club activities in the past and also cross-country training. His forte is show jumping as he has a huge jump and loves it. We have taken him out hunting and he is great. He is bold, but doesn’t rush off, he stands still when required and is very confident.

Q: What is the best thing about Rhu’s temperament?

A: Rhu is easy to work and a very sweet pony. Young girls stand around and groom him with confidence, as he eats his haynet. He is a real confidence giver and has turned my daughter from a nervous jumper, to a confident rider who will jump anything. He is very easy to get on with and you can cuddle him without any fuss. He is not bargy and has no bad habits.

Q: Why are you selling him?

A: Unfortunately he is currently a wasted talent and he needs someone to take him further. He is a much loved pony and this is a very sad sale so all potential homes will be vetted.
